Growing up in a religious family, Patrick at age 12 found himself being molestered weekly by his mother's abusive boyfriend. He would do horrible things to Patrick and when he would tell his mother, she would say it was untrue. This caused the boy to not have many friends due to embarrassing questions. The children would always ask why he was bruised and things along the line of that. It was then and there he realized that he'd have to get away from the life style he was living.
Patrick ran away at age 13, His mother stayed with the man. Though heartbroken with the result of her son Running away She couldn't find it within herself to leave the abusive relationship. Patrick sees his mother alot in town. He avoids contact with her in every way. Though he loves her he can't deal with the emotional bids in life.
Later after he ran away he met Jack Kelly, Jack caught him in vigorous amounts of lies and when Patrick finally told him the truth about his life Jack told him he would be there and his mother would always love him. Patrick now a Newsie of Manhattan is a bit of a prankster, he always is open for conversation, though always watching over his shoulder he is a sweet child.

Alot to the boy: Patrick is a fun loving prankster, always trying to trick people into buying papes. Determined and sweet with his appearance he always has a tough side, being abused in life made him realize he would never be pushed around again in life by no one. Patrick is always paranoid and aware of his surroundings in fear his mother will catch up to him.
