Numb, it was a feeling that Love felt quite often, a feeling that was natural it needed no drink to come along, and yet Love had the deepest desires to drink it away...but it only made things worse. She looked down into her glass, the clear liquid taunting her with its strong scent as she sloshed it around the inside of the glass, the sound of the liquid just making it all feel just abit better. She bit her bottom lip and allowed her eyes to glance up at the bartender as she sat there on her stool and then she scanned the room, over both her shoulders, to her right, then her left. The air didn't feel right, maybe she was just being paranoid after all 4 glasses of vodka could do that to a girl.
She brought the glass to her lips, downing the rest of its contents and slamming it back onto the counter's surface, number 5. That was enough, she needed to start heading back to Manhattan before Jack would begin to wonder where she was and before Brook kids started to try and mess with her because she knew, even drunk, she could be quite nasty....growing up with a drunk mother and learning the things Love knew...nobody would want to cross into her boundaries.
She got up off her stool and grabbed her matches off the counter, shoving them into her pocket before she made her way to the door. Stepping outside, the night air was cool, soothing and inviting. She shoved her hands into the back pockets of her black pants and headed down the alley ways listening to the clicking of her black cowgirl boots against the pavement. She heard rustling around but didn't pay much mind to it...
Turning down the next alley she scowled when she heard the rustling again, behind her...she knew it was too good to last, her silence, her freedom, what did they want now. She stopped and turned on her heels coming face to face with two men as she removed her hands from her pockets and folded her arms over her chest in a stance of power.
"Che vuole lei?" the words rolled off her tongue and a moment later she found that two more men were behind her. She did not move, she kept her stature and her focus on the two infront of her. "Non gioco dei giochi molto bene così lei potrebbe volere parlare veloce" she warned her words coming out harsh now.She tapped her foot against the ground and groaned when one of the men behind her grabbed her arms prying them from her chest. "Ah I see, is this really what its all about? Did you come here for me or for my assistance cus I am no good to you dead," she spat as one of the men approached her. "Watch your tongue Karissa, you really are much like your father was....now are you going to do this the easy way or the hard way?" he asked her. She glared at him, wishing someone would come along and attempt to "rescue" her. (Translation: "What do you want?" "I do not play games very well so you may want to talk quick")

The talk of the town, quite no chirps, tweets, not a word of news what the hell was going on. O' Reily's Pub, seemed to be the place to go, apparently the birds were drowning themselves tonight, but wait, what was Spot still doing on his perch? His greenish eyes skimmed as he set his slingshot in his waistline as he hopped to the ground. The night was setting as he made his way, from the docks, they looked somewhat abandoned. Spot made it to O' Reily's as he looked to the group of kids smoking cigarettes outside. "Ey ah, that der dooah ain't gonna open itself." One of the older boys opening the door giving his apologies with nods as Spot walking in his caine close at hand sizing up the boy, the fully entering the pub.
Spot was greeted by many of the Brook kids as he walked to the stools, well this explained where all his kids were, they were getting slushy. How ever as long as they were safe, which Spot was confident in them, and they stayed on top of their Papes he didn't mind a few drinks. Hell he'd have one himself. He sat down at a stool the tender looking up walking over with a cup of whiskey. "The usual I propose Spot." He smiled and gave a wink at her. "You's know it Mary." Spot said picking up the glass sipping on it his eyes narrowed as they skimmed the room.
A few Bronxies, Race and kid blink from Hatten and...a girl. See spot knew of the kids that mattered. Not to say she didn't but he never met her. He was sure she knew of him though he was Spot Conlon. She seemed drunk as she walked out he gave her a look up and down. Spot dropped a quarter on the table looked at some boys at the table playing pool as he raised his head letting the birds know he was on the prowl. A few sharp turns and a climb up the fire escape. Looking down as two men surrounded her. Spot took his slingshot and took a metal pellet putting it in ready for launch as he aimed and let it go. THUD. Hitting one of the men in the head knocking him out cold. As the other looked around at the rooftops wondering what was going on. Spot crept up behind him pulling out his caine with a clear wack and the other man plummeting to the ground joining his friend.
Spot looked to the girl and raised his eyebrow. "Next time, not on my grounds, take your problems else where." He said looking her up and down as he turned his back beginning to walk, he wondered if she would follow him. After all it was Spot Conlon that just saved her ass. A thank you was in his mind at least, though he didn't like to be mean it was his borough and he had to keep his kids safe. Men bothering younger, newsies...this was trouble and Spot didn't like the sound of it in Brooklyn.

Love was taken by surprise at the sudden falling back of the men and they vanished after the Brooklyn leader showed up with his slingshot. She sighed abit sucking in air between her teeth as she pushed her hand through her hair before turning and looking at him. He was now about to walk away, Love was stubborn, she could have gotten out of it on her own, maybe with some bruises and scrapes, but she knew better than to sass the all mighty Spot Conlon. She gathered her mentality quickly before she began walking after him, her hands now back in her back pockets securely and leisurely.
"I'm not the best with thank yous but Thank you...I apprecciate it," she managed, her tone not harsh at all, it was sincere as she watched her feet now and fell into step beside him. She watched her feet for a moment before she looked up at the darkening sky in thought, Hattan was a good walk from here it'd take quite some time...she wondered if her savior would mind her asking to bunk at the Brooklyn house for the night, after all she knew Jack would do the same for any of Spot's boys or girls. She glanced over at Spot abit hesitantly before she spoke once more."I know it may not be the most polite thing to ask but...it is getting rather late and I am quite far from my borough would it be rude to ask you if I could bunk in Brooklyn for the night?" she asked, she knew it was testing some Major waters but she wasn't one to be too intimidated too easily, she tended to see the good in most people even if she knew there was bad somewhere as well.

He listened to her words, at least she could admit she wasn't one to apologize. This was a good thing. Spot like when someone could say exactly what was on there mind and he listened as her foot steps caught up to him as she hesitantly asked him to sceal for fate for the night. "Well..." Spot looked at the street candles that were now light up as he walked his cane taping the floor as he did so. "You's I guess. You's could stay for the night. I's says what goes and if your okay with meh your good for the night. Plus your of Hatten." Spot could tell because of her attitude a little attractive at that.
He continued through the Alley as he walked with one hand in his pocket looking over to the girl with a glare every now and again. "You's hungry?" Spot asked looking her up and down, he never got to finish his drink but a restaurant that served whiskey and pizza, it sounded good. Plus he could use a little company and it would break the ice.

She listened to him explain the rules of her staying and she nodded in agreement as she watched her feet still in thought, but when he asked if she was hungry she looked up at him with somewhat wide eyes. "Starved...haven't eaten much all day food would be nice," she told him as she could feel her mouth watering just at the very thought of food. She ran her fingers through her hair as she tilted her head sizing him up for a moment before she looked ahead, she knew there was a place they could go not far down the road. "There's a pizza place not far up the road should we go there?" she asked him as she pointed in the direction to which she meant. She looked at him and smiled abit happy that he was quite understandable, she figured that it must depend on a person's approach to him as to whether they recieved the good side of him or not. They continued walking and it didn't take too long before they reached the place, Love glanced over at him making sure this was where he wanted to go before she opened the door for him and awaited him to enter so they could sit down and eat.

Spot gave a weak smile as he looked at the girl opening the door for him. He looked around seeing no one putting his hand above hers letting her enter first. What kind of gentleman would h be if he really didn't hold the door for her, after asking her to go to dinner. Spot gave one more glance at the outside as he followed her into the building. He looked at the waitress who greeted them. Spot walked with Love as they were seated at a booth. He looked at the menu. "Have anything you's would like, This is a one time thing so take advantage of it, hea?" Spot gave a weak smile as he looked at the drinks. He wasn't very hungry but he wanted a few drinks and maybe to get to know this girl. She seemed to know those two goons he slayed back in the alley. Who the heck was she.
Spot looked at the waitress that stated her started to state her name. "Good evening I'm...C." Spot looked at her as he interrupted "You's no one I's don't care. Just get the lady what she want to munch on and sip on then Get's me a whiskey and a draft of beeyah." Spot looked at Love. He'd never be back in this restaurant he didn't need to know names of the unimportant in Brooklyn.

Love was surprised when he put his hand over hers and she smiled softly before following him inside and taking her seat across from him at the booth. As he offerred her anything she wanted she gazed over the menu and smiled lightly listening and when the waitress came by, she looked up from her menu, snapped it shut and shoved it toward the waitress,"I'll take a brandy and a slice of cheese pizza thanks, and try to make it snappy," she said before turning her attention back to Spot. He seemed quite decent, more caring then most took him but maybe it was because not many got to see this side of him.
She folded her legs and leaned back in her spot abit placing her hands on the table and folding them. "I apprecciate yer generosity it is very nice of ya but I promise I won't tell nobodeh, yer tough persona is safe wit meh," she said assurring him that she wouldn't let anyone know of his kindness, she knew how it was, reputations were very very important in the newsie lifestyle and having weaknesses was not good.
